Hello
This is my two cents:
My school, PS 295, shares space with MS 443. We were in this building first. Sharing works out just fine.

The NYC Department of Education wants to put a charter school in PS 15 in Red Hook. This decision has been made in spite of protests from the school, community & parents, & the potential impact on PS15 could be incredibly negative. This blog presents information on the situation to the community to open a dialogue about the situation to resolve it successfully. Posts represent the opinions of individuals posting them, & are not necessarily the opinions of the staff & administration of PS15.

There's a big difference between an elementary school sharing space with a middle school because the respective pupils have such different needs and thusly, the schools are not competing for the same resources. There are bound to be major conflicts when elementary charter school is in the same building as an existing elementary school if only because the charter can hand pick its enrollment and the zone school cannot. Basically PAVE is creating a two-tier educational system in a community that deserves much more.
